Posting Summary

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is currently seeking a Senior Receptionist/Patient Scheduler for the Office of the Chief Operating Office (COO). Carries out a variety of front desk duties at any reception area within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Maintains appointment books, enters and updates patient demographic and insurance information and ensures compliance with University policies and protocols.

• Keeps appointment book filled with scheduled patient appointments as per department procedures.
• Answers telephone and responds to patient inquiries.
• Registers patients, enters all biographic and insurance information into appropriate computer systems; checks patient’s identification and verifies insurance coverage.
• Ensures that various consent forms are signed electronically and/or are up to date.
• Runs daily reports to flag high balance accounts and expired 5 point data to ensure compliance.
• Monitors email box and fax machines for patient referrals and follows up accordingly.
• Ensures scheduling of translation services.
• Reviews and audits patient statements for accuracy in preparation for mailing.
• Provides outstanding customer service to patient inquiries and aids patients in obtaining resolutions to questions or concerns.
• Monitors patient accounts for planned treatments requiring pre-authorization.
• Ensures that insurance pre-authorizations are on file prior to patients’ scheduled appointments.
• Responsible for opening the front desk area each morning and securing the area at the end of the day.
• Adheres to HIPAA clean desk policy.

Minimum Education and Experience

• At least one (1) year of clerical experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Typing, computer and excellent customer service skills.
• Bilingual skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Clerical experience involving receptionist and scheduling duties in a dental office or clinical setting.
