Posting Summary

The Graduate Specialist for Dana would take over managing the Jazz Oral History project under supervision.
Duties for that include:
• Quality control of metadata using the RUcore Workflow Management System (training provided).
• Quality control of scanned transcript pages in .TIFF and .SWF formats.
• Ingestion of digital files into RUcore.
• Coordination of digital file management and metadata management with RUcore team members in Shared User Services in New Brunswick.
• Scanning of interview transcripts.
• Supervision of 2-3 undergraduate work study student who scans transcripts.
• Depending upon candidate qualifications, there may be some work on other projects as well that would take the form of advising faculty members and students on digital projects.
Those duties might include:
• Recommending archival digital standards for reformatting analog materials.
• Recommending archival digital standards for the creation of born digital materials.
• Recommendations for suitable metadata standards according to project specifications and scope.
• Assistance with metadata creation according to recommended standards

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a humanities or social science related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience including digital humanities research methodologies.
Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• The position is open to current graduate students in a humanities or social science field who are eligible for on-campus employment.
• Successful applicants will be highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in digital humanities work within an academic or GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums) setting.
• Knowledge of one or more digital humanities research methodologies is required.
• Intellectual curiosity.

Archival digital materials along with digital humanities research materials.
