Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an ESL Training Coordinator to provide support to the field in the Institutional Planning & Operations(IP&O) positions. This position improves the overall literacy of the IP&O workforce where English is the second language, thereby contributing to their productivity as an employee, providing students with opportunities for upward mobility and advancement. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Instructs employees in workplace literacy courses, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced ESL, basic reading, writing, math, workplace navigation, interpersonal skills as well as other identified needs.
• Develops workplace relevant training curriculum based on assessment of job related training needs.
• Interacts with IP&O Department Supervisors and other University administrators to facilitate delivery of program services, which includes scheduling and implementation of classes, participant attendance follow-up, application of skills
• Publishes class schedules to meet departmental needs to ensure employee attendance is consistent, curriculum is adapted, and problems are resolved.
• Evaluates program success in terms of participant progress, maintains pre/post assessments, attendance, progress reports, and course evaluation forms.
• Manages written quarterly reports, complete participants’ records including pre/pos ttests, attendance records, participant’s portfolio, and learner/supervisor evaluations.
• Completes various other tasks and duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a BA/BS degree in a relevant area, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience, and two years of experience in adult education and/or workplace related education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Friendly, patient, organized, hardworking, teacher, who enjoys teaching adults English as a second language.
• Must be flexible to accommodate shift schedules during the day.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must hold New Jersey Teacher’s Certification preferably in Secondary English.
• Must be bi-lingual in Spanish.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, including group facilitation and group processing skills.
• Punctuality and ability to act as a role model and a representative of university administration.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of instructional design, test design, administration and evaluation.
• Computer literacy is required.

Able to lift 40 Ibs.

Special Conditions

Must be able to travel between New Brunswick campuses to deliver training.
