The Rutgers University, School of Nursing invites applications for a nursing psychiatric-mental health faculty position teaching didactic courses and clinical practica as well as teaching and advising students across campuses. The candidate teaches and mentors students in psychiatric-mental health nursing across the life span. The faculty is expected to advise students, work collaboratively with nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines, maintain clinical competence in a faculty practice, maintain active involvement in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in their field, and actively seek opportunities for and participates in School of Nursing faculty governance.

Candidates should be able to teach and produce intellectual contributions in Psychiatric- Mental Health Nursing across the life span in graduate courses such as Theoretical Foundations of Psychotherapy, Biopsychosocial Assessment and Differential Diagnosis in Advanced Practice Nursing, Principles of Psychopharmacology, graduate Theory and Practicum courses in Adult and Older Adult and the Family, Child and Adolescent and the Family and the Specialty Course involving the following areas: military issues and treatment, substance use disorders, psychological trauma and treatment,etc. Student advising; graduate project and thesis supervision; intellectual contributions leading to publication in high quality journals; and service are required. The positon is primarily in the graduate program but the candidate will be expected to teach courses across the curriculum.


Minimum Education and Experience

• Doctoral degree in nursing or related field required.
• Current licensure or eligibility for RN and Advanced Practice Nurse licensure in New Jersey (with prescriptive privileges).
• National certification and current clinical experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Expertise and experience in nursing/psychiatric mental health across the life span.
• Strong teaching background and demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preference will provided to candidates who demonstrate scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations, grant funding) and active participation in community and/or professional organizations.
