Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Assistant (Communications Assistant) in the Office of Communications at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The primary purpose of the Program Assistant (Communications Assistant) is to assist in the planning, support, and execution of various internal and external communications activities and perform a wide variety of administrative and support services, including but not limited to, coordination and execution of internal communications activities such as employee engagement events and orientation and scheduling faculty to conduct Grand Rounds in the community.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Helps to increase the Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s visibility through-out the community through participation at various events and venues.
• Helps to increase the Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s visibility with community physicians through physician marketing activities including scheduling of Grand Rounds.
• Helps to identify opportunities where the Cancer Institute of New Jersey can market themselves through participation in such things as community events, sporting events, and trade association and organization meetings.
• Responsible for providing administrative, analytical, and staff support for the Office of Communications.
• Schedules meetings and responds to inquiries.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the Office of Communications including initiating and tracking purchase orders and request for checks.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations.
• One (1) year of experience in the field or related area.
• Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency with database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
