Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Department of Population Science at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating the conduct of highly specialized and technical research for the population studies research group. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Participates in all aspects of research and ensures compliance with study protocols. Monitors progress of projects. Reports to the Principal Investigator on project progress, problems, and the need for adjustments.
• Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary study team. Develops work plans, coordinates activities, and communicates to members of the study team regarding study activities. Serves as liaison to other departments, facilities, organizations, and companies. Schedules, attends and leads (as assigned) and takes minutes from meetings.
• Conducts focus groups and interviews as needed. Conducts acceptability and usability testing of measures and interventions.
• Assists with development and administration of assessments. Assists with designing, developing, disseminating, and implementing behavioral interventions.
• Recruits, screens, consents and enrolls participants for studies as per project timelines. Ensures participant completion of study activities per protocol. Maintains study recruitment, accrual, and participation documents.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science or related field (e.g. Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Health Education, or Nursing).
• Three (3) years of research-related experience.
• Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Prior research experience necessary.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, REDCap, Endnote, and SPSS programming.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in related research and/or counseling experience.
• Research experience working in a grant-funded, academic medical setting.
• Strong interest in cancer prevention, behavioral health, e/mHealth and social media.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. Moderate noise.
