Overview

The Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) was founded by feminist activist Charlotte Bunch as a project of Douglass College in 1989. CWGL is affiliated with the School of Arts and Sciences, at Rutgers University. It is also part of the Office of International Programs and a member of the Institute for Women’s Leadership (IWL) that connects sister institutes and centers that are committed to the progress of women at the university.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator for The Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL). This position advances the Center’s ten-year trajectory and five-year plan to achieve substantive equality which includes addressing gender-based discrimination, inequality and violence. CWGL’s programmatic work is at the juncture of gender, human rights and economic policy, grounded in an intersectional analysis of gender, race, class and other identities. The Senior Program Coordinator reports to the Senior Director of Program and Global Advocacy. The Center is housed at and reports to the School of Arts and Sciences.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
· Leads advocacy strategies to advance economic and social rights of women at international, regional and national spheres such as human rights treaty bodies, the Human Rights Council, United Nations special rapporteurs on Human Rights, ILO, WHO, UNFPA, UNDP, UN Women and other relevant institutions.
· Creates and conducts trainings on economic policy, gender and human rights to diverse constituencies.
· Develops training modules on macroeconomics, gender and human rights.
· Works in collaboration with program staff on a comprehensive global institute on rights & strategies and webinars.
· Continues to develop innovative human rights tools to enhance and amplify CWGL’s work on equality and human rights.
· Leads economic policy and rights specific research and analysis including reports, papers, policy briefs, etc. and convene the necessary experts such as feminist economists, advocates and policy makers to develop this cutting edge research.
· Contributes content for grants and reporting and communication needs such as blog posts, annual reports and website.
· Coordinates strategies with CWGL’s partners on the issue of eradicating gender-based discrimination, inequality and violence.
· Plans public events such as public hearings, tribunals and speak-outs that contribute to the overall programmatic objectives of the Center.
· Seeks new relationships and maintain existing relationships with networks and institutions.
· Reaches new audiences for CWGL’s work expands relationships with external stakeholders and strategic partners, including indigenous groups and organizations in the U.S. territories.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

· Requires a bachelor’s degree preferably in economics, sociology or political science or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understating of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.
· Also requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in social justice or rights-based work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Excellent communication, organizational, time management and computer skills.
· Ability to travel required.
· Must be a team player with a record of taking initiative and following through.

Preferred Qualifications

· Candidates with a master’s degree or Ph.D.
· International experience and fluency in a foreign language and/or American Sign Language, in addition to the English language.
