Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Secretary I for the Radiation Oncology/Cancer Biology at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Secretary I is to provide a wide variety of administrative and secretarial support for faculty in the Division of Cancer Biology in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Coordinates projects, correspondence, reports, and fiscal procedures for the department.
• Assists with pre-award and post-award grant management, including development and submission of grant applications.
• Assists with on-boarding of laboratory staff including processing of visa applications.
• Assists with preparation and submission of grant applications, management of grant awards, and preparation of financial and technical reports, compiling data and providing estimates of projected expenditures.
• Provides research and administrative support for special projects.
• Assists in the preparation of the division and laboratory budgets; documents expenditures, compiles necessary data, and prepares justifications for projected expenditures.
• Independently handles projects as assigned, such as grants management, internal and special reporting, recruitment activities, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited program in secretarial studies, plus four (4) years of full-time secretarial experience.
• An additional year of experience is required in lieu of the secretarial program.
• College credits may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for secretarial experience.
• Up to sixty (60) credits may be substituted for two (2) years of secretarial experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in typing and experience with word processing packages.
• Experience with additional software packages as required by the department.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
