The Department of English and Communication at Rutgers University-Camden seeks applications for a 10-month, non-tenure track Assistant Professor in Communication. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of new communication curriculum in a range of courses, including media studies, digital studies, and public speaking. The recent change of the department’s name to English and Communication reflects a comprehensive vision of discourse within an innovative undergraduate major offering flexible pathways to a B.A. degree, an M.A. in English and Media Studies, and an MFA in Creative Writing. We seek a colleague who expands the department’s existing strengths in literary studies, linguistics, journalism, rhetoric, and digital media with introductory and advanced courses in communication. Areas of specialty are open, but we are particularly interested in digital communication, health and organizational communication, communication theory, and media studies.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in communications or a closely aligned discipline. Standard teaching load is four courses each semester with expected reductions for program development. The initial term appointment is two years with the possibility of renewal.

Located in the bustling waterfront district just across the Delaware River from downtown Philadelphia, Rutgers University-Camden is the southern campus of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
