Posting Summary

University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Regional Scheduler for the Department of Adult Medical Services.The Regional Scheduler processes all consultation requests and related documentation for the facility. Investigates and problem solves issues raised by inmates, family, friends and/or advocates concerning issues related to medical, and/or dental treatment at the facility. Coordinates the release planning for medical cases requiring continuing medical care following release.

  • Possesses knowledge of, and follows the Scheduling Policies and Procedures for consults.
  • Communicates with the Physician I/Site Medical Director when issues arise which require his/her supervision and input.
  • Maintains the Inmate Eligibility System to ensure that the information contained in the database is accurate and up to date.
  • Reviews and investigates inmate grievances related to healthcare, through medical record review and personal interviews with inmates and staff.
  • Reports grievances to the Administrator on a daily basis. Provides follow up on all grievances with merit to ensure problem resolution and proposes systemic solutions to remedy problems.
  • Establishes and manages the release planning process with the attending physician and Physician I/ Site Medical Director.
  • Reviews retrospective chart of inmates with medical conditions being released from DOC control.
  • Coordinates community services with key medical staff for the inmate to ensure continuity of care immediately following release.
  • Acts as a member of the Release Planning Committee.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School graduate.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of medical office or hospital experience including medical records clerical duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires a working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience maintaining confidential relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing quality customer service.
  • Computer literate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
  • Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJ Department of Corrections and the assigned facility(ies) including, but not limited to sign in logs or electronic time clocks, searches of person and property, etc. Violations of NJ Department of Corrections and/or being banned by the Department of Corrections to work at a NJ Department of Corrections’ facility are grounds for a disciplinary action and potential termination.
