Posting Summary

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, Faculty Practice is currently seeking an Expanded Duty Registered Dental Assistant. Under general supervision of the Oral Surgeon, performs chair-side assistance for Rutgers University Dental Associate providers. Assists providers during various examinations, treatment of patients including oral surgeries, and dispenses dental materials and instruments.

• Seats patients and communicates patients’ concerns with staff nurse and/or oral surgeon.

• Lays out dental instruments and supplies, anticipates the oral surgeon’s needs during procedures, handing instruments to oral surgeon during examinations and treatment of patients.

• Charts examinations under the direction of the oral surgeon.

• Operates suction equipment, mixes filling and impression materials.

• Manages post-operative patient care, monitors anesthesia patients in recovery.

• Cleans and sterilizes room after each use, serves as sterilization assistant.

• Works closely with staff nurse to ensure accuracy in patient records.

• Maintains all dental equipment for pre and post procedures. Maintains inventory of supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Certification with surgical training and experience in oral surgery and anesthesia.
• Radiological Technology License.
CPR Certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications

BLS trained and certified.
• Three (3) years of dental experience.
• Knowledge of implant surgical components.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to lift patients, heavy boxes weighing up to forty (40) pounds, instrument sets weighing up to twenty (20) pounds; must be able to lift surgical supplies above the head.
