Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Manager for the School of Nursing. The Program Manager for Rutgers Nursing Faculty Practice has primary responsibility for the day to day clinical office operations for Rutgers Nursing Faculty Practice. The Program Manager must be detail oriented and customer focused, with a strong knowledge of managed care. Has extensive knowledge of all facets of practice management, able to complete all credentialing, billing, and coding in a timely and efficient manner. Oversight and management of practice financials to ensure solvency, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills to maintain stability and foster integrated cooperation between staff and community.

  • Manages multiple priorities and re-prioritize as necessary.
  • Works as liaison with third party payors.
  • Verifies third party insurance information.
  • Responds to routine patient questions concerning billing & insurance matters
  • Collects and processes monies received, including posting to practice management system and logs daily financial transactions.
  • Assists with adherence to regulatory updates, including conversion to ICD-10
  • Identifies inconsistencies in documentation of information (quality metrics, bench marking) and assists with correction of deficiencies and errors that occur within the electronic record.
  • Assists with the performance of front office duties including reception, phone calls, appointments, obtaining patient information for record keeping and billing purposes and coding payment schedule (sliding scale, etc.) as per established policy and updates system.
  • Assists with scanning and routing all documents within the electronic health record.
  • Prepares and/or compiles data for various reports, for both internal and external parties.
  • Serves as liaison between the department and administrative units, such as Purchasing, Human Resources, ST, Accounting and Payroll.
  • Interacts appropriately with patients, professional and paraprofessional staff including nurse practitioners, registered nurses, community health workers, social workers, pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, informatics staff and outside vendors.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in finance, business, or a related field;
  • Equivalent education, experience, training,
    certification may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a management capacity in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managed care, all insurance types and their standards.
  • Knowledge of credentialing process for professional providers.
  • Experience with billing procedures and patient accounting functions.

  • Heavy patient contact.
  • Expectation of travel between clinical sites as indicated.
  • Requires minimum standing and walking, requires sitting over ¾ of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel over 3/4 of the time,talk to hear over 3/4/ of the time.
