Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the Early Intervention Support Services (EISS) at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.

The EISS Mental Health Clinician III will provide assessments, individual, group and family therapy and discharge plans for the adult consumers who seek services from the EISS program. In addition, the EISS Mental Health Clinician III will assume on-call responsibilities for the program on a rotating basis.

• Involves the consumer and the consumer’s family or other support system in developing achievable, understandable, and person-centered treatment plans in accordance with accepted professional standards and UBHC standards, as observed by supervisor.
• In collaboration with supervisor and other clinical staff, identifies appropriate resources for consumers and families/support system based on assessed needs in accordance with professionally accepted standards as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
• Collaborates with other treatment team members to plan treatment interventions which focus on consumer strengths.
• Provides outreach services as assigned by Program Coordinator.
• Assumes overall follow-up responsibilities for assigned consumers including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies.
• Maintains appropriate consumer records in a timely manner as mandated by Center policy.
• Ensures that consumers’ discharge plans are developed in accordance with consumers’ expressed goals and to the fullest extent possible, and addresses the needs in consumers’ life domains.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in a mental health discipline.
• Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to work with a treatment team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post graduate experience working with adults in a crisis setting.
• Experience with DSM-IV-TR and appropriate diagnostic skills.
CADC/LCADC.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Position occasionally requires time spent driving to community settings for outreaches. Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds). Frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls. Manual dexterity and mobility for charting. Lifts supplies, equipment and charts. Sitting while interviewing clients; may sit up to several hours in one place. Working with seriously mentally ill adults.

• Varied work settings which include office and community settings. Generally pleasant working conditions in a clean, well-lighted, and quiet to moderately loud setting. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. May be exposed to clients exhibiting assaultive or aggressive behaviors.

Special Conditions

• Must be available for on-call duties.
