Posting Summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for the Department of Child and Adolescent Services. Under the direction of the Clinician Administrator, the Mental Health Clinician III provides comprehensive assessment, psychological/neuropsychological assessment for youth and therapeutic intervention for the psychological and social needs of child and adolescent clients (ages 3-21 years). This includes the development of treatment plans, conducting individual, group and family therapy, and providing case management functions as necessary.

  • Provides psychotherapy based on sound clinical judgment, with empathy and concern, as indicated by supervisory observation and patient feedback.
  • Performs case management functions to ensure overall coordination of patient services via system linkages, service procurement, referrals, patient advocacy, and community liaison; effectively collaborates with other staff members, referral sources, community resources, etc.
  • Administers high-level diagnostic evaluations or specialized psychological testing as clinically indicated.
  • Maintains and supervises the maintenance of clinical records in compliance with UBHC and JCAHO standards; formulates clinically appropriate treatment plans, reviews, progress notes, and discharge summaries within prescribed time frames.
  • Attends to professional development to remain current in knowledge of trends and development in the field of mental health.
  • Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of the Children’s Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in mental health discipline.
  • Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the mental health field delivering psychotherapeutic services, psychological/neuropsychological assessment, and assessment to children and families preferred.
  • Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
