Posting Summary

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Luciano D’Adamio, the Postdoctoral Fellow is responsible for the conduct of highly specialized and technical research. Primarily engages in conducting experiments focused on the function of APP and the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. Responsible for planning and executing experiments independently. Utilizes highly skilled electrophysiological techniques, including patch clamp whole cell recordings and field recordings in primary neurons and hippocampal slices. Contributes time towards writing manuscripts and review articles that directly result from own research. In addition, also helps train graduate students and technicians.

  • Performs various research and technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of a laboratory; may conduct independently, or as assigned, specialized research for a particular project.
  • Participates in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical and instrumentation functions with research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the research program.
  • Assists in the conducting of continuous program of research and development regarding new procedures and instrumentation functions of the laboratory.
  • As requested, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the overall research program of the laboratory.
  • Performs highly skilled biochemical, molecular biology, cell biology and proteomic techniques in investigating the function of APP and the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis, using cell lines, primary neuronal cultures and genetically modified mouse/rat models.
  • Records and analyzes data for studies.
  • Contributes to writing manuscripts and reviews articles that directly result from his/her research.
  • Maintains a proper data notebook pursuant to the standards of the Department and the PI.
  • Assist in training and mentoring graduate students and technicians.

Minimum Education and Experience

Candidates should hold a M.D. or Ph.D. with research experience in Neurobiology. Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to work independently.
