Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Systems Analyst for the Office of the University Controller. This position reports to the Director of Financial Information Systems Reporting and Analytics and is responsible for identifying, executing and delivering efficient reporting and analytic solutions for all financial systems supported by the Rutgers University Controller’s Office. The Business Systems Analyst works closely with the central and business units to assess complex financial reporting needs.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Creates a blueprint to align requirements with system capabilities.
• Develops and implements a wide range of effective reporting solutions and analytics for financial decision making.
• Supports the University Controller’s Office and the university’s financial leadership in the evaluation of business requirements that affect financial reporting and analytics.
• Works with central accounting staff and university-wide end-users and committees, develops solutions to various business needs related to financial reporting and analytics.
• Supports university-wide communication and training initiatives related to financial reporting; and performs other related duties assigned.
• Analyzes business needs by working with business owners to determine whether existing processes and reports are in place, or if new reporting and analytics solutions need to be designed and developed.
• Creates technical/functional requirements and specification documents.
• Oversees report creation, using in various reporting tools, such as Financial Reporting Studio, Smart View and Tableau.
• Creates/modifies legacy system reports as needed using SQL.
• Provides timely and professional guidance and direction to end users with a high level of quality assurance.
• Works with help desk system to ensure end users are receiving customer service within a timely basis along with tracking issues.
• Resolves the more complex customer-service issues that require higher-level support.
• Communicates with trainers and end users regarding new reports, enhancements and report issues.
• Defines training needs related to financial reports and related systems.

Minimum Education and Experience

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Accounting or Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience; plus five years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Demonstrated technical proficiency in implementing change initiatives as a technical expert within a specified product or process area
•Ability to understand complex, integrated, state-of-the-art and legacy computer systems
•Broad technical skills in financial systems development or application support
•Skills in planning, organization and project management
•Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to provide superior customer service to end users
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proficient in SQL
•Proficient in MS Office including Excel, Word, Power Point
•Experience using Excel add in Smart View for ad hoc reporting from a connection to the ERP database

Preferred Qualifications

•Preferred experience using Oracle Fusion ERP and the following reporting tools: Financial Reporting Studio, BI Publisher and Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI)
•Experience using Excel add in Smart View for ad hoc reporting from a connection to the ERP database
•Experience using report writer software such as Tableau or Discoverer Plus
