Posting Summary

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Sara Morelli, the Post-Doctoral Fellow conducts techniques investigating mechanisms by which bone marrow cells contribute to rapid, scar-free renewal of the uterine endometrium.

  • Assists in further advancing the understanding of mechanisms of endometrial renewal through the use of animal models, human cell lines, and primary clinical specimens.
  • Designs and performs experiments, collects and analyzes data, writes manuscripts, and presents results.
  • Develops standards, methodologies, and instrumentation. Utilizes protein biochemistry (ELISA and Western Blot), and molecular biology (RNA extraction, real-time PCR, array analysis).
  • Participates in evaluation of procedures, suggests revisions, and proposes new procedures.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments in a laboratory notebook.
  • Compiles data, makes necessary calculations, presents results at national conferences, and publishes the results in high impact journals.
  • Instructs and teaches basic lab techniques to various trainees in the laboratory, including medical students, Masters students, and clinical residents and fellows in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health.
  • Responsible for general lab maintenance including maintaining and cleaning equipment, ordering lab supplies, processing of orders or invoices, and ensuring compliance with institutional regulatory procedures.
  • Assists in the writing of grants.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D degree in genetics/molecular cell biology or related areas.
  • Experience with murine models and animal (rodent) handling, protein biochemistry (ELISA and Western Blot), and molecular biology (RNA extraction, real-time PCR, array analysis).
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry / confocal laser microscopy, and digital imaging.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in endocrinology, gene expression, stem cell biology and immune function genes.
  • Expertise in the biology of the mesenchymal-epithelial transition, which will be applied to the investigation of mechanisms of endometrial regeneration.
