Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Manager Catering for Rutgers Dining Services- Catering.

Among the key duties are the following:
• Responsible for planning, coordination and management of services for University-wide catered functions; training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating employees to ensure smooth, efficient, courteous and cost-effective service.
• Determines staffing needs, schedules employees, assigns duties and directly supervises any number of full- and part-time employees depending on the size, number and duration of events each day.
• Ensures compliance with sanitation, safety and cleanliness standards.
• Plans and books events, meets with clients, and develops menus, pricing and contract proposals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Requires a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus two years’ experience in a food service operation or quality catering environment with a proven record of client satisfaction.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Also requires supervisory experience, and the ability to multi-task, in a fast-paced environment; deal with a diverse group of clients; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Requires ServSafe certification, or certification within one year of employment, computer literacy in industry standard software, excellent communication organizational skills and attention to detail; use of personal vehicle and a valid NJ driver’s license.
