Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Nutritionist I for the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the faculty and the Director of the Division of Endocrinology, this position is responsible for the delivery of medical nutrition therapy to pediatric patients and their families referred to the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology for individual and/or group education on an outpatient basis.

• Obtains patients’ nutrition histories.
• Discusses specific needs of individual patients with physician and recommends dietary strategies.
• Conducts nutritional consultation for select patients within the department of pediatric endocrine.
• Obtains and evaluates nutrition histories from patients and/or their caretakers.
• Assesses the nutrition status and specific nutritional needs of individual patients.
• Develops nutrition care plans to meet the needs of individual patients.
• Provides medical nutritional therapy to individuals and families using culturally sensitive and family centered approaches in an ambulatory setting.
• Documents patient care in the medical record.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate from an accredited college with a Master’s Degree in a nutritional science or a Bachelor’s Degree plus successful completion of an approved dietetic internship or coordinated undergraduate program to obtain Registered Dietitian credential.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications

• Three years professional experience in dietetics or nutrition of which one year of clinical nutrition experience or pediatric nutrition experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical Demands: Position requires standing, sitting and walking one-third of the time and requires talking and use of the hands and fingers over two-thirds of the time. This position requires that lifting or force be exerted up to 25 pounds under one-third of the time. Requires close vision at 20 inches or less.

• Work Environment: Office environment with moderate noise.
