Posting Summary

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine seeking a Dental Assistant III for the Dental Implant Center. Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean, the Dental Assistant III assists with the day-to-day operations in the Office of Clinical Affairs.

  • Responsible for greeting visitors, patients, students, and faculty in the Dental Implant Center.
  • Schedules implant screening for patients and maintains appointments in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Answers phones and screens calls in a professional manner. Acts as telephone receptionist and takes messages as needed.
  • Dispenses implants and restorative components using Implant Tracking System.
  • Assists the Oral Surgery dental residents with Dental Implant Cases.
  • Issues equipment, instruments and supplies daily to students and/or faculty.
  • Checks returned instruments and prepares items for sterilization. Delivers and retrieves instruments from the central sterilization area in accordance to schedule.
  • Ensures a neat clean, sanitary and time efficient dispensary and storage area.
  • Ensures dispensary area meets all OSHA regulations.
  • Contacts maintenance personnel regarding defective instruments or equipment and monitors repairs.

  • Knowledge of dental implants.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Standing, sitting, walking, bending, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. This position requires the ability to lift 10
lbs., reach storage shelves and transports instruments to and from sterilization area.
