Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Manager, Clinic Services for the Practice Management Services department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Under the direction of the Director of Practice Management Services, the Manager, Clinic Services is accountable to manage the delivery patient business services for the Clinic and Treatment areas. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Establishes procedures to maximize revenue for clinical services while ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and other third party payor guidelines and regulations.
• Supports the research mission of the cancer center by collaborating with the Office of Human Research Services in scheduling patients participating in clinical trials.
• Manages all personnel in areas of accountability in accordance with Rutgers guidelines.
• Participates in performance improvement activities in and monitors benchmarks in order to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of services.
• Provides oversight to the Symposium call system to ensure patient care access. Functions as a senior staff member, handing both routine and complex issues and problems.
• Demonstrates competency in assisting patients and families regarding financial and billing issues in all age categories from neonates through geriatrics and all populations with an emphasis on cancer.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Health Care or related field plus five (5) years of hands on medical office, medical facility or insurance company experience.
• Must have knowledge of CPT4 Procedural Coding as well as ICD10 Diagnosis Coding guidelines.
• Experience in billing and collection required.
• Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills required for working in a service environment.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries from patients and respond effectively tomost sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, patients, customers, and/or the general public.
• Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment required.
• Demonstrated knowledge is necessary of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.

Work Environment:
Fast paced, high-pressure office/clinic/hospital environment with stringent deadlines. Requires the ability to work and cooperate with faculty, students, managers, employees and the public at all levels in order to exchange ideas and information. Clinical setting includes minimal exposure to blood, odors and exposure to infections and communicable diseases. Requires the ability to work with all patient populations with a primary focus on cancer.
