Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for the Population Science department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Research Associate II provides statistical analysis, and programming and data management to fulfill the needs of faculty conducting behavioral, epidemiological and health services research under the direction of the Associate Director for Cancer Prevention, Control and Population Science. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Performs statistical analyses and programming management for Population Science investigators conducting behavioral, epidemiological and health services research.
• Writes power analyses and researches plans for grants.
• Develops graphs and tables for manuscripts, presentations, grants and reports.
• Develops and maintains databases for research projects.
• Provides consultation to faculty related to the design and conduct of statistical analyses.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics or a related field plus three (3) years of related research experience in Behavioral, Epidemiological and/or Health Services Research.
• Experience conducting statistical analyses and power analyses for varied research projects, including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and case-control studies, and using large population based data sets.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of databases and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with longitudinal, mixed and latent statistical models.
• Proficiency and knowledge of multiple statistical software packages, including SAS, SPSS and STATA.

Physical Demands:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.

Office environment. Moderate noise.
