The Department of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Chief, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD degree and be board certified and eligible for licensure in New Jersey. The desirable candidate should be a physician investigator with a history of extramural funding and demonstrable leadership qualities. They must have demonstrated success in promoting excellent teaching, scholarship, and research, as well as developing, managing, and implementing clinical programs. As part of a new and significant commitment to the Department of Medicine, a generous startup package is available to support the recruitment of the Chief and 4-5 additional research faculty members.

Overview

The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is comprised of approximately 150 paid and more than 500 volunteer faculty members organized into 11 divisions covering the major medical subspecialties: Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases; Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension; Education; Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition; Gastroenterology and Hepatology; General Internal Medicine; Hematology; Medical Oncology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology.

The Department’s clinical mission encompasses inpatient and ambulatory care settings at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (the primary teaching hospital of the medical school) and at various hospital affiliates and ambulatory care sites throughout the region. Our educational mission is focused on development of the next generation of physicians who will become insightful and caring clinicians, leaders, educators and researchers in the field of medicine. Our ACGME-accredited education programs continue to thrive. We have an outstanding Internal Medicine Residency Program and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease; Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism; Gastroenterology; Hematology/Oncology; Infectious Disease; Interventional Cardiology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology.
