Posting Summary

Reports to the Director of the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT). Primary responsibility is to establish an Autism and Developmental Disabilities Transportation Research Program to investigate and implement strategies to address the transport needs of adults and adolescents on the autism spectrum and those with related developmental disabilities. Develop research proposals/plans and obtain funding that build on the autism related transportation initiatives at the center. Performs professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge of relating to transportation planning and engineering as well as autism and related developmental disabilities and has a solid understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of area of specialization.
To develop viable transport solutions for this population, new research that explores how to create ubiquitous recommendations and guidelines for improved accommodations and supports for autistic people and their families must be pursued.


Minimum Education and Experience

Applicants must have a PhD in Transportation Engineering or Civil Engineering.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires the necessary experience to serve as Principal Investigator (PI) or may assist a PI to develop original research plans, schedules, and protocols to ensure successful completion of assigned projects. Initiates and facilitates development of cutting-edge advanced protocols; through these activities, becomes recognized nationally as a subject matter expert, and writes technical reports, journal article submissions, and prepares conference presentations for industry, federal and state departments, research institutions, and academia.
