Posting Summary

The Rutgers Physician Executive shall be expected to devote eighty percent (80%) of his/her time each month in the performance of the Rutgers Physician Executive Administrative Responsibilities for Rutgers Health at University Hospital Ambulatory Clinic.

The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Oversee the reporting structure of Ambulatory Clinic staff to ensure accountability of all Ambulatory Clinic practices, in cooperation with the Hospital Executive;
2. Ensure physician coverage for all Ambulatory Clinic services;
3. Ensure Rutgers Physicians complete medical records correctly and in timely manner;
4. Co-Lead, along with the Hospital Executive, the development and implementation of the EPIC EHR System;
5. In conjunction with the Hospital Executive, ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of Ambulatory Clinic operations;
6. Co-Manage, along with the Hospital Executive, the operating and capital budgets of the Ambulatory Clinics;
7. Assist the Hospital and its medical staff with the medical staff appointment and reappointment credentials process for Rutgers Physicians provision services at the Ambulatory Clinics;
8. Supervise Rutgers Physicians providing services at the Ambulatory Clinics, subject to the ultimate oversight by the Hospital Executive, the JMC and the Governing Body;
9. Ensure all clinical research projects undertaken at the Ambulatory Clinics have been reviewed and approved by the appropriate Institutional Review Board, as applicable, and are undertaken in a clinically appropriate manner;
10. Work with the Hospital Executive to continuously improve processes and care at the Ambulatory Clinics, including the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives;
11. Support the Parties’ mutual goal of employing a diverse workforce at the Ambulatory Clinics;
12. Act as role model for service excellence;
13. Understand and adhere to the compliance standards and policies of both Rutgers and the Hospital;
14. Keep abreast of, and oversee compliance with, state and federal regulations applicable to the operation of the Ambulatory Clinics; and
15. Ensure all clinical staff providing services at the Ambulatory Clinics staff are trained and evaluated no less often than annually.

16. Interfaces with the UH and NJMS patient relations programs and services and responds to general patient related quests and complaints as they related to the RH at UH ambulatory practice.
17. Works with the Hospital Executive to develop, implement, and monitor activities around the improvement of the patient experience.

18. Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
19. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
20. Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
21. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Education and Experience

Doctoral Degree (MD or DO), New Jersey State Medical Licensure, and board certified in their primary medical disciple. At least one (1) years’ experience leading a large multi-specialty group practice. Expertise and interest in quality improvement and patient relations in a complex health care environment is required. Demonstrated computer competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) is required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced environment is essential. Must maintain confidentiality regarding work assignments. Ability to work additional hours periodically for certain assignments is required. Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

As noted above, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access are essential along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
