Posting Summary

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is seeking a Lead Central Sterile Technician for the Office for Clinical Affairs to assist in the day-to-day operations of Central Sterilization. Maintains all aspects of sterilization procedures related to dental instruments and supplies associated with patient care within the various clinical operators. Handles assigned projects and ensures all the needs of Central Sterilization are met.

• Operates and monitors steam autoclaves, sonic washers and other sterilizing equipment; keeps accurate sterilization logs.
• Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments and equipment, assembles wraps and sterilizers cassettes, trays and instruments.
• Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and equipment.
• Maintains necessary supply levels in sterile storage areas.
• Verifies that equipment functions properly and maintains equipment via repair or replacement.
• Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Maintains storage rooms in a neat and orderly manner in keeping with the highest standards of sanitation.
• Ensures proper coverage of staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Two (2) years of experience in a health care, medical, or dental setting or a closely related setting using sterile procedures.
• New Jersey Central Service Certification is required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization, assembly, packing and monitoring of instrumentation.
