Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC’s 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) is dedicated to excellence in providing behavioral health services to the people of New Jersey. We are currently seeking a Mental Health Clinician III to be a part of the Early Intervention Support Services (EISS) program. This clinician will provide assessments and individual, group, and family therapy and discharge planning for the adult consumers who seek services from the EISS program. Will assume on-call responsibilities for the program on a rotating basis.

• Provides assessments in accordance with professional and agency standards of quality and safety.
• Utilizing evidenced-based therapeutic techniques, supports consumers to achieve stabilization in their respective recovery efforts.
• Provides outreach services to consumers who are at risk.
• Assumes overall follow-up responsibilities for assigned consumers including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies.
• Maintains appropriate consumer records in a timely manner.
• Collaborates with consumers, their respective support systems, and other members of the treatment team in discharge planning.
• Contributes to and supports goals and objectives of UBHC.
• Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and Rutgers’ regulations, laws, and policies; meets all annual requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in a mental health discipline.

Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to work with a treatment team.
• Handle emergency or crisis situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post graduate experience working with adults in a crisis setting preferred.
• Experience with DSM-IV-TR and appropriate diagnostic skills preferred.
CADS/LCADC preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Occasional time spent driving to community settings for outreaches.
• Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds).
• May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases; subject to varying and unpredictable situations; exposed to clients exhibiting assaultive or aggressive behaviors.

Special Conditions

• Must be available for on-call.
• Valid driver’s license.
