Posting Summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Clinician Supervisor for the New Jersey State Parole Board’s Community Supervision for Life Program. The Clinician Supervisor, under the direction of the Clinician Administrator, oversees the daily operation Offender Outpatient Services for the New Jersey State Parole Board (NJSPB).

  • Oversees operations at a program level by monitoring assessments, caseload, schedules, and staffing assignments to optimize resources on a daily basis; develops a comprehensive range of services; develops and implements clinical programs in conjunction with Clinicians.
  • Supervises and provides administrative leadership to multidisciplinary staff.
  • Reviews the quality of clinical records and provides ongoing feedback to clinicians on their documentation; completes the required qualitative chart reviews.
  • Provides specialized assessments of individuals convicted of a sex offense, group treatment focusing on the treatment of individuals convicted of a sex offense and individual and family therapy as clinically indicated.
  • Responds with professionally to cultural and social issues of offenders and intervenes clinically based on widely accepted and effective approaches and theoretical orientation.
  • Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and applies relevant treatment approaches for adults (ages 18 – 64), seniors (ages 65 +) and their families.

Minimum Education and Experience

Minimum of a Doctoral Degree in psychology plus three (3) years of experience. Candidates with a Doctorate in Psychology must possess a license as a psychologist. One year of relevant supervisory experience and one year of forensic experience preferably in the assessment and treatment of individuals convicted of a sex offense required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Effective team leadership, training and interpersonal skills are required. Computer literacy is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Department of Corrections in shared office environments. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Extended sitting is required. Ability to move from unit to unit within correctional facilities. Frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls. Intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities. Lifting and pulling up to 10 pounds. Hearing and sight are essential. May be required to travel within the state. Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions

Able to function in a stressful environment and relate well to the patients, security staff and health care team members. A generally crisis oriented, secure environment working with adults, some who exhibit aggressive, threatening and assaultive behaviors. Handle emergency and crisis situations. Incumbent must exhibit flexibility to work in a variety of settings. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, strains. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Entering and movement within the facility will be controlled by Correctional Officers.

Special Conditions

Must be approved by the New Jersey State Parole Board (NJSPB) and adhere to all NJSPB requirements. Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJSPB. Violations of NJSPB rules and regulations are grounds for a disciplinary action and potential termination.

A valid Driver’s License is required. Must possess own vehicle.
