Posting Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Program Coordinator at the Office of Continuing Professional Education, NJAES-Cooperative Extension, provides high quality front-line customer service regarding inquiries via phone, email, web and fax.
Maintains and updates marketing systems, databases and records.
Assists with traditional, electronic and social media marketing strategies.
Proofreads marketing materials.
Assists with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

Comfortable with telemarketing / cold calls and with learning and using new software and tools; effective / persuasive sales skills; basic math skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of marketing, public relations, customer service, database management, or a related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a candidate may have a minimum of five (5) years experience in one of the desired fields. Excellent computer skills required, including: demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications; fast and accurate data entry; typing speed of 70 wpm and proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry standard software applications. Other skills required: effective web research ability, detail-oriented; strong organizational and time management abilities; good judgement and problem solving; effectively manages multiple priorities; clear, concise, and persuasive writing skills; strong editing and proofreading skills; communicates succinctly, articulately, effectively and professionally in writing and on the phone. Ability to respond quickly to customers service inquiries and respond diplomatically and with tact in resolving customer complaints. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, successfully complete the university’s defensive driving course (within two months of hire) and be willing and able to lift 40 lbs.

Equipment Utilized

All Microsoft Office including Access, InDesign, Salesforce, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, ability to navigate vendor websites.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Office environment includes sitting at a desk, using a computer, and answering the phone for the majority of the day.
