Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for the Population Science department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Research Associate II will coordinate the conduct of highly specialized and technical epidemiologic research for the population science research group, under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Assists the Professor and study staff on all ongoing research.
• Assists the study and Professor with analyzing data and preparing manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
• Assists the Professor with the preparation of grant proposals, based on the research conducted.
• Assists with IRB submissions of ongoing research projects.
• Gives oral presentations of the research.
• Assists with teaching graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology or a related field, plus three (3) years of related research experience in Behavioral, Epidemiological and/or Health Services Research.
• Experience conducting statistical analyses and power analyses for varied research projects, including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies,and case-control studies. Must have experience using large population-based data sets.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with longitudinal, mixed and latent statistical models, is preferred.
• Proficiency and knowledge of multiple statistical software packages is preferred, including SAS, SPSS and STATA.
