Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Concessions Supervisor to provide support and report to the Dining Services Unit Manager. This position supervises daily activities for one or more food service facilities operated by Rutgers University Dining Services including hires, trains, and supervises cooks, utility workers and student employees. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Ensures high-quality service for assigned Concessions and Dining Services Unit.
• Oversees food inventory and storage, ordering and receiving supplies as necessary.
• Maintains corporate standards for contracted retail operations.
• Reconciles bank transactions and manages financial transactions.
• Prepares employee schedules and processes payroll, absence records, and bonuses.
• Oversees sanitation policies and ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
• Performs various other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent, ServSafe certification within one year from date of employment, and a minimum of four years of leading or supervisory experience, preferably in food service, with a minimum of one year of food service experience that includes retail sales, inventory, staff hiring, scheduling, training of employees.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to work at variety of locations and work a flexible schedule including extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to lift and carry food, equipment and beverage items.
• Requires excellent communication and customer service skills, and computer literacy in industry standard software.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work from multiple locations and on flexible schedule. Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.
• Must successfully receive ServSafe certification within one year from date of employment.
• Must complete and pass back ground check and physical.

Preferred Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and four years professional experience in a related field, including experience in supervision and food preparation in a high-volume dining facility are preferred.
