Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Public Health Representative III, reporting to the Prinicipal Investigator,for the Department of Medicine, at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. .

FOCUS PROJECT is a grant funded project under the RWJMS Department of Medicine-Division of Infectious Disease.

FOCUS is the acronym used for “Frontlines of Communities in the United States." The goal of the project is to implement and to improve approaches for Hepatitis C (HCV) screening in the RWJUH Emergency Department.

FOCUS Project is a collaborative model with the RWJMS-Department of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Pediatrics in addition to the RWJUH—-Laboratory, EMR and Information Technology (IT).

• Provides information to Emergency Room staff about the FOCUS project.
• Collaborates with Emergency Room staff with Hepatitis C testing.
• Reviews criteria for Hepatitis C testing in the Emergency Room.
• Utilizes project database to enter Hepatitis C testing information.
• Maintains timely and accurate documentation of HCV testing results including detailed client demographics, medical information, risk factors and other required information for data base and Grant reporting.
• Communicates with FOCUS project team about testing process in Emergency Room.
• Participates in all grant-related meetings, conference calls and updates.
• Reviews Hepatitis C test results, provided by RWJUH Lab.
• In the case of positive test results, contacts patient to review test results and explains the importance of Hepatitis C treatment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required.
• Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a health program, which included responsibilities for interviewing, investigating, and/or conducting public health surveys or patient care.
• Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in other infectious diseases helpful.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desirable.
