Posting Summary

The Reference/Technical Services Librarian will provide legal reference services to the students and faculty of the law school, the University community, and the public. S/he will instruct students in legal research including teaching Advanced Legal Research or similar courses. The position will also involve administrative duties within the law library as needed as well as participate on law school and University committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Candidates must have a J.D. from an A.B.A. accredited law school; M.L.S. or equivalent from an A.L.A. accredited program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of legal information sources; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with a variety of people; strong service ethic.

This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position where a good knowledge of both law and training as a professional librarian are required.

Previous experience as a reference librarian working in law libraries is preferred.

Equipment Utilized

Use of the library’s OPAC software; Microsoft Office experience especially with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasional light lifting of books and other materials is required, up to 20 pounds.
