Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Admissions Officer. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions.

The Admissions Officer acts as the primary liaison for applicant admissions to various Graduate/Professional School programs.

The Admissions Officer:
• Responsible for all graduate/professional school filing and processing operations.
• Centers and edits multiple forms of data via a variety of Admissions systems.
• Coordinates and facilitates the graduate application portal training of graduate department faculty, staff, and graduate enrollment advisors.
• Assists with troubleshooting.
• Attains proficiency in emerging technologies.
• Assists and participates in Graduate/Professional School recruitment events.
• Works with the graduate program directors in the Graduate/Professional Schools and the Assistant Director of Admissions Marketing and Communications to draw upon best practices around marketing/communication efforts.
• Consults with leadership to provide vision and direction for the graduate programs at Rutgers University – Newark.
• Serves as a critical liaison to the graduate programs/schools/colleges at Rutgers University – Newark and works with them to draw upon best practices to plan and implement marketing and recruitment efforts, technology-driven recruitment and communications, and outreach to prospective students.
• Communicates effectively to all colleagues through regular and planned communication and/or meetings so that information and updates are passed accurately and timely to those who require it. Is accurate and demonstrates true commitment to quality work in all aspects of the job.

This position will involve occasional evening and weekend hours. Since travel is required, the Admissions Officer must have access and use of a personal vehicle. The Admissions Officer must also be able to manage other duties as assigned throughout the year demonstrating his/her capability to learn new information, understand it and use that information to be effective in the position.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of experience in recruiting and admissions preferably in a university setting, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have excellent verbal and written communication, public speaking, organizational and planning skills; also must have good interpersonal skills and proficient computer skills. Proficiency in various computer programs (Office Platform, Accuplacer, RUTADMIN and Image Now) a plus, as well as knowledge of the university audit systems and sources of assistance.
This position will involve evening and weekend hours. Since frequent travel is required, the Admissions Officer must have access and use of a personal vehicle.
