This half-time administrator, half-time educator position will oversee baccalaureate program activities associated with a campus location. The position will be for a term of two years. The appointment may be renewed, depending on the program need and the mutual agreement between the faculty and the Dean.

These are two positions one for the New Brunswick and the other for the Newark location. Please note on the cover letter which location you are applying to.

The Newark and New Brunswick campus will have an Assistant Dean for the Entry to Baccalaureate Practice Division of the School of Nursing to ensure the quality of the program. The names and number of programs offered at each campus may differ and change over time and will be used in part to advertise to prospective students and faculty about the areas of expertise within the School.

The responsibilities of the Campus-Wide Assistant Dean include:

• Ensures the overall academic quality of the entry to baccalaureate practice programs at the campus location

• In collaboration with the faculty, ensures that curriculum and learning outcomes are articulated and meet accreditation criteria for students’ success

• Coordinates with other departments within Rutgers and other schools to assure that appropriate prerequisites are available to our students

• Provide direct supervision and support to Program Administrative Support Personnel

• Works with the CERI staff and IT department to ensure proper training and use of the simulation equipment and information technology

• Coordinates faculty needs including PTLS and adjuncts for the course by monitoring enrollments, out of cycle students

• Collaborate with Office of Student Services to facilitate student registration, student life and related issues

• In collaboration with clinical site coordinators, identifies clinical sites and placements for all students in the program

• Interviews and recommends for appointment PTLs and adjunct clinical instructors

• Meets regularly with PTLs, adjuncts, clinical instructors and preceptors to provide them with feedback in terms of teaching style for professional growth

• Recommends faculty teaching assignments to the Associate Dean for Entry Baccalaureate Practice

• Assigns faculty advisors to all students in the program in consultation with the Associate Dean for Entry to Baccalaureate Practice

• Collaborates with the Associate Dean, Assistant Deans, Program Directors, and faculty in developing and implementing evaluation tools for student outcomes and program effectivness

• Reviews student evaluation of course and faculty, program outcomes, exit surveys and NCLEX pass rates and makes recommendations for change based upon this information

• Provides Associate Dean for Baccalaureate Program with appropriate feedback for annual review of each faculty member in the unit and provides input for equitable assignment of faculty workload

• Ensures that there is equity of expectations and opportunities for students across clinical experiences

• Ensures that each student admitted has the opportunity for a quality education with appropriate support from faculty, preceptors, and clinical instructors

• Is responsive to student concerns and communicates issues to appropriate sources and resources

• Celebrates with the students and faculty their successes and provides support during times of challenge

• Encourages appropriate students to consider matriculating in the graduate programs at Rutgers University

• Maintain own program of research or clinical scholarship

• Maintains national certification as appropriate


Minimum Education and Experience

o Doctoral degree required or current enrollment in a doctoral program in nursing.
o At least 5 years teaching
o Academic administration experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

o NJ RN License Required.
