Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) within University of Behavioral Health Care (UBHC).
The primary purpose of the Mental Health Clinician III position is to perform psychiatric emergency services, screening, and screening outreach assessments as well as other mental health services.

|Minimum Education and Experience||
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a mental health related discipline.
|Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities||
Licensure to practice as required by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline. Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work. Eligibility for certification as a Psychiatric Screener in the state of New Jersey is required.
One (1) year of Post-Master’s experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
|Physical Demands and Work Environment||
Time spent driving to designated facilities or performing mobile outreach to interview clients and coordinate with staff, families, law enforcement, community programs and others. Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds or more). Frequently walks, bends, stretches, lifts, pushes and pulls. Manual dexterity and mobility for charting and use of electronic resources. Lifts supplies/equipment/charts/patients. Sitting while interviewing clients; may sit up to several hours in one place. Frequent use of telephone for crisis calls. Ability to participate in emergency physical interventions with patients including escort, restraint and seclusion is required.
Varied work settings include office, community agencies and screening sites. Some screening sites may be located in busy hospital emergency rooms. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. May be exposed to varying or extreme temperatures.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
