Recruitment/Posting Title Postdoctoral Associate
Department DIMACS
Salary Commensurate With Experience
Posting Summary

DIMACS, the Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, invites applications for two postdoctoral positions associated with the center.

One position is in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton, NJ. It is a two-year postdoctoral associateship with the first year (2017-2018) spent at IAS, and the second year (2018-2019) spent at DIMACS. There is a requirement to teach one course during the second year (typically in the fall semester).

A second position is associated with the Simons Collaboration on Algorithms and Geometry for research at one of several participating universities, including Rutgers. It would be a two-year postdoctoral associateship hosted by the Rutgers University Department of Mathematics and DIMACS.

Applicants should be recent Ph.D.’s with interest in theoretical computer science and/or discrete mathematics. Research areas include but are not limited to: computational complexity, algorithms, optimization, cryptography, combinatorics, graph theory, and discrete probability. Both positions provide salary, health benefits, and an allowance for domestic travel.

Applicants should provide a cover letter noting the position(s) they are applying for, curriculum vitae, a research statement highlighting their current, past and planned future research, optionally a teaching statement, and the names/e-mail addresses of three references.

DIMACS is a consortium of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Princeton University, Nokia Bell Labs, Applied Communication Sciences, AT&T Labs – Research, and NEC Laboratories America. Research and education activities at DIMACS focus on such areas as analysis of algorithms, combinatorics, complexity, privacy and security, discrete and computational geometry, discrete optimization, and graph theory. Many DIMACS activities relate to specific topics of current interest represented by the DIMACS special focus programs. Postdoctoral Associates at DIMACS are encouraged to collaborate with DIMACS members and visitors and to participate in all of the research and educational activities of DIMACS.
