The School of Nursing is one of eight schools that make up the Rutgers biomedical and Health Sciences. As part of the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences division, the School of Nursing (Newark) offers unique opportunities in education, research, and practice at a leading national research university which is the state’s preeminent, comprehensive public institution of higher education.

We are recruiting for an individual with expertise in maternal child health, with specialty focus in the areas of childhood trauma and emotional and bio-behavioral risks related to abuse and neglect, and the child welfare system.

This is a calendar year position at the rank of Associate or full Professor with tenure. Salary and benefits appropriate for rank. The candidate must have a distinguished program of research in the broad area of maternal child health that has been widely disseminated in peer-reviewed, refereed journals and supported through significant extramural support.

The successful candidate will join the FXB Center as its senior scientist. The FXB center is committed to improving the health of vulnerable women, children, youth, and families–including those infected and affected by HIV– and to building capacity in the communities and systems that serve them. Its mission is to eliminate barriers to interdisciplinary, client-centered, equitable, high-quality health care for those at greatest risk for socially-determined health vulnerabilities. With $36 million in annual grant funding and approximately 350 staff, the FXB Center has a 30 year track record of successfully competing for sponsored programs from the City of Newark, State of New Jersey, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Health Resources and Services Administration. FXB Center emphasizes collaboration, leadership, and innovation in developing solutions through the creation of effective programs that benefit individuals, families and communities, and society as a whole.

The Child Health Program and Child and Family Nurse Program are collaborative projects of the FXB Center and the New Jersey State Division of Child Protection and Permanency. FXB developed and implemented these innovative programs, the core of which is a workforce of 250 nurses. These programs provide community-based, pediatric nursing case management services to DCPP district and regional offices and the children in their care across the state of New Jersey. Since 2007, the CHP has provided nursing services to more than 50,000 vulnerable, at-risk children in foster care. The successful candidate will provide rigorous outcome evaluation of this large, community-based clinical service.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Candidates for this Tenured Faculty Researcher position within the FXB Center should have the following qualifications: 1) An earned doctorate in nursing or health related field such as psychology, public health, social work; 2) Eligible for appointment as an Associate or full Professor rank with tenure; 3) A distinctive record research, publications, and extramural funding record focused on childhood trauma, abuse and neglect, and/or the child welfare system; and, 4) Track record of significant collaboration and experience working effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Overview

The FXB Center Faculty Researcher will function under the direction of the Dean, School of Nursing, working closely with the FXB Center Executive Director and FXB Center principal investigators and program directors. The successful applicant will be a member of the FXB Center Executive Leadership team and will collaborate in the overall leadership and development of FXB Center research and evaluation efforts. The FXB Center Faculty Researcher position offers an exciting opportunity to continue development of faculty research in a stimulating a supportive environment and to provide significant leadership for research development within the Center and School of Nursing.
