The Rutgers University School of Nursing-Camden (SNC) invites applications and nominations of an exceptionally qualified and visionary candidate with an established program of research for a senior-level faculty member. The Henry Rutgers Professors in Oncology Nursing will launch research and educational initiatives in oncology nursing at the SNC and an academic practice center in oncology nursing including a post-BSN and DNP residency program in partnership with the M.D. Anderson/Cooper Cancer Center in Camden, New Jersey. The successful candidate for this position will have exceptional communication and teaching skills, a record of scholarly research and publications in cancer care, and a track record of externally funded grants related to oncology and/or cancer survivorship.

The responsibilities incumbent in the position will include: nurturing intellectually rigorous and academically sound research and practice initiatives in cancer care throughout the School of Nursing and fostering collaborative research initiatives across the campus and within the community; championing for and mentoring oncology nursing scholarship in students and faculty; spearheading successful efforts to increase research and evidence-based practice funding; and advance the School’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plans for research, scholarship, and teaching excellence. This senior faculty member will increase the visibility of the School of Nursing, and will strengthen oncology content in existing courses, while continuing to foster his/her own program of research, and nurture research of doctoral students in oncology nursing. This candidate will be a leader and advocate for oncology nursing research, practice, and innovation. S/he will provide leadership to help develop a Center for Oncology Nursing.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Licensure or eligibility for Registered Nurse license in the state of New Jersey.

An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field.

A graduate degree (doctoral and/or master’s) in nursing.

Recognized scholarly experience as evidenced by academic accomplishments, publications, and service commensurate with the rank of Professor. A strong record of scholarship would enable this individual to meet requirements for tenure and appointment at the rank of full professor.

History of successful record of obtaining externally funded grants related to oncology and/or cancer survivorship.

A distinguished record of teaching.

A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity.

The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences.
